GLASSES AND CONTACT LENSES

Glasses

Eyeglasses help to provide balance for an eye that is too long or too short by increasing or reducing focusing power. Eyeglasses create the sufficient amount of focusing power needed, so light rays focus directly on the retina. Glasses help to correct vision for people with farsightedness, nearsightedness and astigmatism (refractive errors).

There are number of different lenses available to meet to the specific needs of each patient. The following are just some of the lenses we offer:

We also provide lens coatings including, anti-reflective coating, UV coating and scratch-resistant coating to help make lenses last longer and have a more attractive appearance. Tinting is also available in a wide range of colors and shades from the palest rose that helps with glare when reading, to the darkest grays, browns, and greens for sunglasses. If you prefer lenses that change with the light, Transitions® are also available.

Eye Institute of Marin offers a wide selection of frames to fit the personal needs and desires of every patient. Frames come in many shapes, sizes and colors. Some factors to consider while choosing the frame for you include: facial features, age, activities and the prescription itself.

Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are also used to correct refractive errors. These thin, clear, curved discs float on the tear film that coats the front surface of the eye, known as the cornea.

With the advancements in today’s technology, just about anyone can wear contact lenses. Here at Eye Institute of Marin, we offer a wide array of options for patients desiring contacts. The following are just some of the contact lenses we offer:

Generally most people can comfortably wear contact lenses. However, persons experiencing severe allergies, dry eye, recurring eye infections, or those who work in a dirty, dusty environment, may have a difficult time wearing contacts.

It is important for patients wearing contacts to closely follow the instructions provided by Dr. Najafi-Tagol.
